National AI Literacy Initiative
On June 4, 2026, the federal government launched Canada’s AI Strategy, which includes a commitment to AI literacy for all Canadians, to be achieved through a National AI Literacy Initiative.
AI literacy can be understood as the skills and knowledge that enable individuals to understand, critically reflect on, evaluate, and ethically and safely use AI in a variety of contexts. AI literacy empowers individuals to understand how AI is already operating in their daily lives and decide for themselves how they will engage with it.
Opportunity:
As the government develops the programs, partnerships and investments that will deliver this ambitious commitment to AI literacy for all Canadians, community organizations have an important opportunity to inform how the initiative will reach people on the ground.
Who is this survey for?
This survey is designed for leaders and practitioners in community-based organizations with expertise in the design and implementation of learning programs that are engaging, relatable, and empowering for the diversity of Canadians participating in non-formal, community settings.
